Fitness Plan

My Fitness Plan
After doing a fitness module in PE I have decided to make a fitness plan.
Monday; football training for an hour and a half (Cardio-vascular and muscle endurance)
Tuesday; PE in school for a double class (70 minutes)
Wednesday; take a walk before after school before I do my homework (half an hour)
Thursday; go swimming after school (an hour)
Friday; football training for an hour and a half (Cardio-vascular and muscle endurance)
Saturday; take a walk in the middle of the day (half an hour)
Sunday; Day for rest / possibly football match.

I would like to improve on the bleep test and get a higher result than 4.4, and be able to do more press-ups the next time we test our muscle endurance.

Muscular endurance

Muscular Endurance and Strength
Muscular endurance – the ability for a person to exert itself for a long period of time. It is usually in aerobic and anaerobic exercise.
Strength – Physical strength also known as muscular strength is the ability of a person to exert force on physical objects using muscles.
Benefits of developing these areas of fitness; you will become more healthy as a result of the training, the risk of you getting an injury while exercising will decrease as a result and you will be able to compete in sports for longer as you will be more fit from developing these areas of fitness.
Yesterdays PE class; Yesterday in class we focused on developing our muscular endurance and strength. To do this we played basketball, this would involve using your triceps and biceps, your quads and your calves. We warmed up first by doing press-ups, sit-ups, passing, tricep dips and running. This was to warm up your muscles so they wouldn’t be sore the next day.

Flexibility

Flexibility & Yoga
For PE this week we did yoga to test out flexibility (yoga refers to traditional physical and mental discipline that originated in India) first we had to relax our bodies in order to carry out the yoga properly, and practice breathing correctly. We did different stretches in order to test our flexibility (the distance of motion of a joint, which may be increased by stretching) I think the yoga was a good way of relaxing the body after a day at school, and it would be a good way of waking yourself up and your muscles in the morning before school/work. I really enjoyed doing yoga as part of PE; I didn’t think it was too strenuous which was good.

New years resolution - 2011

New Year’s Resolution - 2011
For the year 2011 I think that I am going to try and go swimming more, maybe twice a week if possible. I did swimming last year but not as much as I would have liked to. Also, when football starts back in February, along with the one day a week training that we do as a team I will also try and do some training by myself to stay fit. To exercise during the weekend I will bring my dogs for a walk in the mornings. I will also try and participate more in P.E as part of my new year’s resolution.

My perception of PE

My Perception of P.E
I think that P.E is very beneficial in school for everybody involved. Its gives people a chance to get away from the classroom and have fun while exercising. I like it because it’s fun and healthy and people who won’t usually be involved in sport get a chance to be involved as a team. It allows to people to get to know each other better while working in a team or coming up with tactics or ideas. It also allows people to learn about leadership and organising groups/teams, and even though learning is involved it still has the aspect of enjoyment.
P.E usually meant basketball or football in my primary school which would generally only suit some people. However in secondary school we get a chance to participate in more sports and activates which is great. We can learn about different sports in other countries and have a chance to experience them. Sports Day in school is also P.E related and it is a great day which brings the whole school together through different events.
I do enjoy P.E in school and I think that it’s a very positive way of exercising, learning about being healthy and teamwork within the school.
